All Black triumph is history repeated for Jackson family
When the All Blacks won the Rugby World Cup back in 1987, Matamata man Eric Jackson was one of a few lucky Waikato residents to be pictured with the coveted prize.
Exactly 24 years later, Mr Jackson’s grandson Simon was also photographed with the Rugby World Cup at the New Zealand Rugby Union’s headquarters in Wellington following the All Blacks’ thrilling win in the final against France.
‘‘I don’t think there is another family in the world, let alone in New Zealand that would have been photographed with the cup,’’ Mr Jackson said. ‘‘I think it’s wonderful.’’ Mr Jackson took copies of the photos to Pictiur Perfect where they were merged into one photo and framed.
