Talented two make finals
Withthe national final of the 2012 Junior Tiger Tournament at Palmerston North on April 15, the Waikato component for qualifying was held at the Hukanui Golf Club on Sunday March 18.
Accompanied by adults, more than 80 enthusiastic young golfers competed, hoping to be one of four players to attend the nationals.
This event is a great opportunity for talented players in New Zealand; a chance to be noticed.
And judging by the play, there will be a number who will be pursuing higher honours later.
Two Matamata junior golfers rose above all others to win two divisions.
Dayna MorrowWilson won the Girls 12- to 14-year division by five shots.
Jack Trower won the Boys 11 years and under division, by seven shots.
They both shot 34, which was two under the card.
Dayna won the Girls 11 and under in 2009, while Jack has backed up last year’s victory in the same division.
Both young golfers will go to Palmerston North in April to compete in the national final against the winners from the other 14 regional qualifiers.
