Police have seen an upsurge in rural burglaries lately, particularly from farm sheds across Waikato.
As part of that investigation, Matamata, Te Awamutu and Cambridge police executed a search warrant on a Matamata property on Thursday, May 10. Police recovered a large quantity of stolen property, including chainsaws, fishing gear, pushbikes, firearms and ammunition.
As a result, a 53-year-old Matamata man is facing two charges of burglary and a 27-year-old Matamata man is facing a number of charges relating to burglary and firearms.
Both men will be appearing in the Morrinsville District Court on May 23.
