Kaka swoops into Matamata, gives resident delight

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

An unexpected visitor flew into Matamata for a brief appearance last week. Native parrots or kaka are very rarely seen in residential areas so you can imagine the surprise of a Matamata resident when he noticed one pecking at the bark of one of the trees in his backyard. The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said he felt compelled to send the photo because it had a nice feel good element to it.

‘‘It’s not every day you get this sort of visitor in your backyard,’’ he said.
