Band plays on in hon­our of pa­tron

Mata­mata Brass Band paid trib­ute to the late Jim Wheadon, who was in­te­gral in help­ing Mata­mata Brass find its feet again and served as the pa­tron for 12 years. Mata­mata Brass won sil­ver and took home the award for the most en­ter­tain­ing band pro­gramme. Hamil­ton Aux­il­liary Brass won the Pohlen Cup for D grade hymn and Te Awa­mutu Brass took home the David and Ruth Cochrane Cup for open grade hymn.

The crowd was al­most spilling on to the steps of the Mata­mata Col­lege hall on Sun­day when Mata­mata Brass took to the stage for the an­nual Mata­mata Brass Fes­ti­val of Mu­sic.
