As­saults cast pall over week

Mata­mata police dealt with two in­ci­dents of vi­o­lence this week.

On Thurs­day, June 7 around 1am a man was as­saulted in the Rawhiti Ave area as he walked home. Police are fol­low­ing a strong line of in­quiry.

In the early hours of Sun­day, June 10 police were called af­ter re­ceiv­ing re­ports of a woman scream­ing in the col­lege/in­ter­me­di­ate area.

A short time later, police lo­cated a 17-year-old woman who had a se­vere in­jury to her ear and bruis­ing to her face.

Police are at­tempt­ing to lo­cate a 22-year-old man in re­la­tion to this.

A 21- year- old woman was ap­pre­hended for war­rants for her ar­rest.

A 55- year- old man and a 28- year- old man were ar­rested for bur­glary. The pair were found together fol­low­ing the bur­glary of a Camp­bell Rd ad­dress that was re­cently de­stroyed by fire. They were in pos­ses­sion of ob­jects that had been re­moved from the house.

A 26- year- old Mata­mata man has been re­manded in cus­tody un­til July, af­ter police ar­rested him for per­vert­ing the course of jus­tice in re­la­tion to a drink- driv­ing mat­ter.

A 20-yearold man was ar­rested for driv­ing while dis­qual­i­fied and had his car im­pounded.

Just be­fore 3pm a 20-yearold man was ar­rested for theft of petrol re­lat­ing to a drive-off in­ci­dent.

A 20- year- old woman was pro­cessed for driv­ing with ex­cess breath al­co­hol around 10pm. Just be­fore mid­night an 18-year-old man was also pro­cessed for ex­cess breath al­co­hol.
