No bail for father and son facing burglary charges
A Matamata father and son are facing burglary charges after they allegedly broke into a Campbell Road property that had recently been damaged by fire.
Michael Melgers, 55, and Nathan Melgers, 28, were denied bail when they appeared in the Morrinsville District Court last week.
Michael also appeared on a second burglary charge in relation to the alleged theft of 60kg of potatoes from a farm shed. Both men were on bail at the time of the alleged offences and Judge D C Ruth said they had shown ‘‘blatant disregard’’ for their previous bail conditions.
The were remanded in custody until their next court appearance on June 20.
