Marmite supply delayed

Matamata Chronicle - - News - By EVIE MARINKOVICH

Marmite lovers in Matamata will have to survive another five months before supermarket shelves are restocked with the red-and-black jars of goodness.

Production was scheduled to resume in July but engineers have found further structural damage to Christchurch’s Sanitarium factory which has slowed down the process.

Sanitarium New Zealand general manager, Pierre van Heeden announced Marmite production would be at a standstill until around October.

Matamata New World owner, Ewan Atherton said they ran out of stock about 21⁄ ago.

Because Sanitarium stockpiled the Marmite that was left Mr Atherton said they had ordered some with the hope it would arrive soon.

If all goes to plan, we can expect to see Marmite back in full force and ready to spread on our toast before November.

Not impressed: Madilyn Beattie would rather eat plain buttered bread than switch to Vegemite.
