Shadows tribute coming

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

Two former Matamata lads have picked up their guitars for the first time in 45 years.

Brothers Ron and John Dawson grew up in Matamata in the 1960s, attending Matamata College.

Both played in local rock and roll bands.

The brothers were huge fans of British pop group The Shadows and made plans to start a tribute band, which never eventuated.

That is, until they were at a recent family function, when they decided to give it another shot.

They bought guitars and amplifiers, found a drummer and a bass player and formed band, Casting Shadows.

The band will be performing at the Bureta Park Motor Inn in Tauranga on Saturday, August 11, and encourage fans of The Shadows to go along.
