Night of comedy, culture and curves

- By KIM LAUBSCHER

Burlesque is coming to Matamata.

Dolly D’Ville and her team of dancers will be Matamata for a one night only show at the Redoubt Bar and Eatery.

“Hold on to your garters,” warned Ms D’Ville. “You’re in for a treat.”

Ms D’Ville who is based in Te Awamutu, is taking her burlesque show Bubbles and Bombshells on a tour of small New Zealand towns.

“[I am] thrilled to be making a difference in small towns and travelling across the country performing,” said Ms D’Ville.

the Redoubt will be Ms Tittle Tattle, Rosina Lee, Azure D’Murre, Pussy Galores and Ginger Kisses.

The Bubbles and Bombshells show will include traditional burlesque and neo classical burlesque, combining seductive dance and striptease with comedic and witty elements.

Ms D’Ville said the art form has seen a revival of popularity in recent years. It was famously represented in the 2010 Christina Aguilera and Cher film Burlesque.
