Te Poi Hall cel­e­brated

This year the Mata­mata His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety will hold its an­nual “Cel­e­brat­ing Coun­try Halls” meet­ing at Te Poi Hall.

It’s the Te Poi Hall’s 90th birthday so it should be well worth at­tend­ing this func­tion on Tues­day, Au­gust 28 at 1.30pm.

A pro­gramme is be­ing or­gan­ised which will in­clude the monthly His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety meet­ing, re­mem­ber­ing that many meet­ings have been held here dur­ing the past 90 years.

There will also be a raf­fle, talks about the Te Poi Hall and dis­trict by lo­cal speak­ers, singing items, community singing, a demon­stra­tion of old time danc­ing and his­tor­i­cal books will be on sale.

This will be fol­lowed by a de­li­cious af­ter­noon tea and the cut­ting of the 90th birthday cake.

Past and present wel­come to at­tend.

Please bring a plate as was the cus­tom throughout the years.

Tal­ented: Mata­mata Col­lege stu­dent Jes­sica Schweizer was awarded most out­stand­ing player on a tour with the New Zealand Youth Brass Band.
