‘‘ Mata­mata Blood­stock Day is aimed at achiev­ing sev­eral goals,’’ says Mr Thomp­son. ‘‘A strong rac­ing in­dus­try is im­por­tant, so sup­port­ing the lo­cal rac­ing club is a con­crete way for all five spon­sors to make a con­tri­bu­tion.

‘‘ The spon­sor­ship group re­alise a lot of their core busi­ness comes from lo­cal thor­ough­bred in­vestors such as breed­ers, own­ers and train­ers, so the day is de­signed to thank them and also pro­vide in­for­ma­tion as to the range of blood­stock ser­vices they pro­vide.

‘‘The con­cept is a re­flec­tion of this. From con­cep­tion, foal­ing and wean­ing through to break­ing, pre­train­ing and spell­ing this group of spon­sors can cater for all blood­stock re­quire­ments.’’
