Re­cruit­ment drive for cen­sus

Sta­tis­tics New Zealand is con­tin­u­ing its mas­sive re­cruit­ment drive for the 2013 cen­sus with a hunt for 440 dis­trict su­per­vi­sors around New Zealand.

Cen­sus 2013 gen­eral man­ager, Carol Slap­pen­del, said the suc­cess­ful re­cruit­ment of these roles was key to the over­all suc­cess of the cen­sus.

‘‘The next cen­sus will be held on Tues­day, March 5, 2013. It will in­volve the de­liv­ery and col­lec­tion of cen­sus forms for an es­ti­mated 4.6 mil­lion peo­ple and 1.8 mil­lion dwellings,’’ she said.

‘‘About 7000 cen­sus col­lec­tors will per­son­ally de­liver forms to ev­ery house­hold be­fore Cen­sus Day, and pro­mote com­plet­ing cen­sus forms on­line. We need a big team of dis­trict su­per­vi­sors to re­cruit and man­age the thou­sands of col­lec­tors.’’

Va­can­cies opened for dis­trict su­per­vi­sors on Mon­day and close on Septem­ber 16.

Af­ter ex­ten­sive train­ing. the dis­trict su­per­vi­sors will be in the field from De­cem­ber.

Re­cruit­ment for more than 7000 col­lec­tors will be­gin in De­cem­ber.
