Recruitment drive for census
Statistics New Zealand is continuing its massive recruitment drive for the 2013 census with a hunt for 440 district supervisors around New Zealand.
Census 2013 general manager, Carol Slappendel, said the successful recruitment of these roles was key to the overall success of the census.
‘‘The next census will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. It will involve the delivery and collection of census forms for an estimated 4.6 million people and 1.8 million dwellings,’’ she said.
‘‘About 7000 census collectors will personally deliver forms to every household before Census Day, and promote completing census forms online. We need a big team of district supervisors to recruit and manage the thousands of collectors.’’
Vacancies opened for district supervisors on Monday and close on September 16.
After extensive training. the district supervisors will be in the field from December.
Recruitment for more than 7000 collectors will begin in December.
