Matamata Chronicle - - News -

With less than two weeks until doors open at the 15th annual Matamata Historical Society Book Fair, members are stunned at the number of books flooding in.

Last year the society raised the thick end of $10,000 and proceeds from this year’s fair will go towards the proposed cowshed project at Firth Tower Museum.

Society member Joan Stanley said the Matamata community always showed huge support for the fair and it continued to grow each year.

‘‘We have one every single year, so we are amazed as to where all the books come from,’’ she said.

A lot of hard work had gone into organising the fair, with members spending several months sorting through all the books and magazines.

This year, the fair is being held at the former Tables on Broadway, on the corner of Broadway and Vosper St.

It starts on Thursday, October 4 and runs until Saturday, October 6, open daily from 9am till 4pm.
