Counsellor’s story to be told

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

If you would like to hear the inspirational story of a woman who has made the most of her life despite living with only half a heart you might want to listen to Wendy BowenGraham.

Wendy will be the guest speaker at Parkside Villas on Saturday, November 24, at 2pm and Matamata residents are welcome to attend.

Wendy has experience working in Canada, Britain and in New Zealand in many fields with youth, children and family work. Before training as a counsellor she worked as a Child Youth Care co-ordinator for Heart Children New Zealand and Starship Hospital.

Working at Starship Hospital was what made her become a counsellor. Many times she sat and talked with chronically ill children, youth and their families.

She understood their stories as she was born with a heart condition and has lived in and out of hospital. ‘‘I want every person who suffers from any problems that life throws them to have the freedom to talk and be heard, no matter what they are going through, and feel understood,’’ she said.

Inspirational: Wendy Bowen-Graham.
