Pick up the baton and join the relay
Registrations are open for the Cancer Society’s 2013 Relay For Life. Waikato residents are urged to register their team to secure their place at the event which helps the society celebrate survivors, remember loved ones lost and fight back against a disease that affects one in three New Zealanders.
‘‘We’re celebrating 10 years of Relay in Hamilton next year, so if you’ve thought of entering before, this is the year you don’t want to miss.
‘‘It promises to have all the aspects that makes Relay so special, plus a few surprises,’’ says Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society fundraising coordinator Marie van Eyk.
Relay For Life involves teams of 10 or more taking turns to walk around a track for 22 hours, keeping their baton moving through the night.
The 2013 Relay For Life, which is a fundraiser for the Cancer Society, will be held from 2pm on Saturday, March 9 to noon on Sunday, March 10 at AgResearch Ruakura in Hamilton.
