Cows to beef up hospital

Matamata Chronicle - - Rural Delivery -

Matamata farmers have the chance to support the New Wing Project at Pohlen Hospital by pledging a cull cow.

Elders Matamata Saleyards has jumped on board with ‘‘Beefing up Pohlen’’, agreeing to take no commission on pledged cows.

Livestock representative John Price said Elders was proud to support the project and hoped local farmers would contribute.

‘‘We are a local yard and we are lucky to have our own hospital in Matamata – it’s a wonderful asset to the community,’’ he said.

‘‘You never know when an onfarm accident or a car crash could land you in hospital so I hope the farming community gets behind this.’’

Nine cows have been pledged so far and local carriers have offered to cart the pledged cows free.
