Census collectors wanted

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

The 2013 Census is now just three months away and Statistics New Zealand needs around 7000 census collectors to work in every part of the country including in Matamata.

‘‘ Census collectors will visit every home and dwelling in New Zealand leading up to census day Tuesday, 5 March 2013,’’ general manager 2013 Census Carol Slappendel said.

The collectors will deliver Internet Access Codes and paper forms to 1.8 million homes and dwellings.

‘‘The combination of census collectors going door to door and the fact that people will also have the option of completing forms online means we are making it as easy as possible for everyone in New Zealand to be counted on census day,’’ Ms Slappendel said.

‘‘From the very tip of the North Island, to Stewart Island and the Chatham Islands we need census col- lectors. We need collectors to go to hospitals, homes, airports – even cruise ships will have forms delivered to them,’’ she said

‘‘It’s a huge challenge, but it’s also an extremely rewarding role and collectors are well supported by an experienced team.

‘‘ The job involves parttime paid work during a six week period from February 11 to March 24 2013.’’

Census collectors work from home.
