Following the release of

and the opening of the i-SITE Gatehouse, the Matamata Business Association is investing in making visitors to Matamata feel welcome.

In a joint venture with the Matamata Community Board, the association has had metal brackets attached to streetlights along Broadway, in order to hang flags along the main stretch.

The current flags read, ‘‘Welcome to Matamata,’’ and association manager Sue Whiting said the brackets would be available to advertise local events.

Both the association and the board were ‘‘thrilled’’ with how the flags turned out, she said.
