Mayor’s Christmas message

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

Christmas is just around the corner and if you have not already started your celebrations, no doubt you are looking forward to spending time with your family and friends.

It has been an exciting year for our district.

Just to name a few of the projects we have worked on – the Hauraki Rail Trail (from Te Aroha to Paeroa) was completed, the Morrinsville Heated Pool was upgraded and Matamata-Piako District Council contributed to the new Matamata i-SITE Gatehouse which was opened by John Key earlier this month.

I welcome visitors to our district over the holiday period. I am sure you will enjoy our hospitality and respect our surroundings. There are many things to see and do in our district and we hope you enjoy your stay.

So, as we celebrate this holiday season, I hope you all have a chance to relax over the break.

Please also remember your neighbours at this time of year, especially the elderly and those who live alone.

I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous 2013.

Kevin Buckley, Matamata Food and Clothing Bank coordinator Raewyn and Countdown duty manager Carmelle Paterson.
