Christmas greetings to all, says Waikato MP

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

Iwish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. This year we are looking forward to spending time at Christmas with our daughter and then we will be heading to the beach.

As I look back on the year that is about to pass, I can reflect on the progress we have made with legislation in Parliament and feel pleased with the way the Government is tackling the issues that we face as a nation.

The Global Financial Crisis still affects most countries. However, we are in a relatively strong position to take the opportunities once the world economy starts to recover.

Not everyone has had a good year and for some in the community, 2012 has brought new challenges and for others their lives will never be the same again.

When we count our blessings at this time of year, we should also think of those less fortunate and make a conscious effort to help lift someone else’s load.

In January, I will be travelling to Vladivostok, as I will be leading the New Zealand delegation to the Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum.

I am hoping for good weather at the Mount this year as no doubt it will be anything but warm in Russia.

My wife Leonie and I wish you all a safe and relaxing festive season.
