Watch out for road works on your holidays

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

The New Zealand Transport Agency advises motorists planning their summer holidays to be aware of road works in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions.

Road maintenance activity increases during the summer months to take advantage of good weather.

Key construction works will be taking place from January 14 to February 14 on State Highway 29 from Hinuera to Te Poi.

Maintaining and repairing the region’s roads is an integral part of the NZTA’s focus on Safer Journeys for all road users. Waikato NZTA state highways manager Kaye Clark said several of the more than 2600 kilometres of state highway in the region carry some of the highest traffic loads in the country.

NZTA does its best to keep delays to a minimum.

‘‘However, in some locations traffic flow through or away from the works area needs to be managed carefully to maximise the safety of road users and the work crews while work is underway,’’ Mrs Clark said.

NZTA has road work details at nzta.govt.nz/traffic or on 0800 4HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49).
