Road skater hit by car

Po­lice at­tended an ac­ci­dent on SH27 in Wa­haroa. A 10-year-old girl was hit by a car as she was skate­board­ing across the road. She was checked over by a doc­tor and, luck­ily, was not se­ri­ously hurt.

At 4.40am po­lice at­tended a crash on Man­gawhero Rd where a 21-year-old drove off the road on his way to work and hit a tree. Fire­fight­ers cut him from his car and he was taken to Waikato Hospi­tal with se­ri­ous in­juries. A white 1992 Mazda Capella sta­tion wagon, reg­is­tra­tion TT5534, was stolen from a Smith St prop­erty overnight. A 1977 Mazda 323, reg­is­tra­tion IK9624, was also taken from in­side a garage on Al­lenby Rd. Po­lice be­lieve the of­fend­ers had prior knowl­edge of this car. A 33- year- old man was ar­rested for theft of drugs from a lo­cal vet clinic.

At 6pm a per­son vis­it­ing from the South Is­land saw from a dis­tance some­one en­ter­ing his car. A mem­ber of the pub­lic also saw some­one break­ing into the car and called the po­lice. As a re­sult, two boys, aged 14 and 16, were dealt with by po­lice and a Nav­man GPS was re­cov­ered.

Po­lice car­ried out a search war­rant at a Hawes St ad­dress in Wa­haroa. As a re­sult, a 22- year- old man was ar­rested for a ru­ral res­i­den­tial bur­glary that took place on De­cem­ber 4, 2012.

A ve­hi­cle was im­pounded af­ter the driver was found to be driv­ing while for­bid­den.

Po­lice were called to an ad­dress in Wa­haroa af­ter re­ports of a firearm be­ing used. Three youths were found in pos­ses­sion of an air ri­fle, which was con­fis­cated and re­turned to an adult. Po­lice would like to re­mind peo­ple that air ri­fles can be dan­ger­ous and can eas­ily be mis­taken for firearms.

Po­lice at­tended a crash on SH27 at Knee­bones Bridge, where a truck lost con­trol and jack­knifed, nar­rowly avoid­ing a head-on col­li­sion. The driver was un­hurt.

A Wa­haroa prop­erty was bro­ken into overnight and a tele­vi­sion was taken. Po­lice are fol­low­ing pos­i­tive lines of in­quiry.

Overnight, an ef­flu­ent pump, pic­tured, worth $12,000 was taken from out­side a cow shed on a Henry Wat­son Rd prop­erty. Se­cu­rity footage shows two men in a ute driv­ing up and steal­ing the pump.

A 45- year- old man was air­lifted to Waikato Hospi­tal with se­ri­ous in­juries af­ter he lost con­trol of his mo­tor­bike on a onelane bridge on Ar­madale Rd. A man was ar­rested in Mata­mata for breach of bail.

Stolen: A DODA Hor­i­zon­tal PTO Pump (as pic­tured) was taken from a Henry Wat­son Rd ad­dress.
