Fun run and walk all on, new sponsors in
Planning for the Matamata College Fun Run/Walk scheduled for Friday evening on March 15 is well under way and the organising committee is pleased to announce that in addition to the main event sponsor, Matamata Mitre 10, the following local businesses have come on board as major race sponsors: Metso Minerals 5km Run Matamata Directional Drilling Ltd 5km Walk
Candy Gillespie Ltd Chartered Accountants 10km Run
Matamata Medical 10km Walk.
Sports Club chairman Steve Langdon said he was rapt to have the key sponsors in place for the Matamata College Sports Club’s main fundraiser.
The proceeds from the Fun Run/ Walk will go towards upgrading equipment across all
Centre codes in the refurbished college gyms.
The long overdue refurbishment is due for completion early in term one.
It features new ceilings, a new floor in the Lucas Gym, upgraded changing rooms, and improved lighting.
This will improve things for not just the students, but for the wider Matamata community.
The Fun-Run has proved a very successful and enjoyable family event and appeals to a wide range of people, from the serious athlete to the person who is just getting off the couch after a period of time away from activity.
The move to an evening slot was introduced successfully in 2011 and the timing of it is ideal for winter sports teams to incorporate it as a team building exercise into their pre-season fitness training programmes.
For 2013 there are also reduced entry fees.
All participants go in the draw to win some fantastic prizes on the evening and there are plenty of spot prizes for those who run and/or walk the five kilometre or 10km walk and run events.
Matamata College continues to receive outstanding support from local businesses and looks forward to them coming on board again as minor sponsors to help make the event a success.
