$27,000 grant for cow­shed dis­play

Mata­mata- Pi­ako’s three mu­se­ums can carry for­ward district coun­cil grants.

At a re­cent coun­cil meet­ing it was dis­cussed that the mu­seum so­ci­eties in Mata­mata, Te Aroha and Mor­rinsville have worked to­gether for a num­ber of years.

An ini­tial grant of $ 10,000 each was com­bined in the 2010- 2011 fi­nan­cial year to $30,000 for a cu­ra­tor to work with the three so­ci­eties.

The mu­se­ums then in­di­cated they wanted to pur­sue an alternative ar­range­ment with Waikato Mu­seum, which saw $10,800 of the grant spent.

The bal­ance of $ 19,200 has been brought for­ward with the 2012-2013 grant of an­other $30,000.

More than $ 27,000 has been ear­marked for a cow­shed dis­play at Firth tower Mu­seum in Mata­mata.
