More rewards on offer
A large prize pool and further recognition await the three 2013 Waikato Dairy Industry Awards winners, who will progress to the national finals in Wellington on May 24.
The trio line up against other sharemilker/ equity farmer, farm manager and dairy trainee regional finalists to determine who will win national honours and prizes worth more than $140,000.
The prize pool for the 2013 New Zealand Sharemilker/Equity Farmer of the Year is valued at $83,000. The winner’s share is nearly $36,000, the runner-up $16,000 and the third place- getter more than $11,000. A further $20,000 in cash and prizes will be shared among nine merit award winners.
The 11 regional finalists in the Farm Manager of the Year will compete for a prize pool of nearly $44,000. The winner takes home about $22,000 in prizes, the runner-up $8000 and the third place- getter $3000 in prizes. Five merit awards are worth another $10,000.
A total of $13,000 is on offer in the Dairy Trainee of the Year category. The winner $7000, the runner-up $3000 and the third place- getter $2000. A national merit award worth $1000 will be presented to a trainee.
