A large prize pool and fur­ther recog­ni­tion await the three 2013 Waikato Dairy In­dus­try Awards win­ners, who will progress to the na­tional fi­nals in Welling­ton on May 24.

The trio line up against other sharemilker/ eq­uity farmer, farm man­ager and dairy trainee re­gional fi­nal­ists to de­ter­mine who will win na­tional hon­ours and prizes worth more than $140,000.

The prize pool for the 2013 New Zealand Sharemilker/Eq­uity Farmer of the Year is val­ued at $83,000. The win­ner’s share is nearly $36,000, the run­ner-up $16,000 and the third place- get­ter more than $11,000. A fur­ther $20,000 in cash and prizes will be shared among nine merit award win­ners.

The 11 re­gional fi­nal­ists in the Farm Man­ager of the Year will com­pete for a prize pool of nearly $44,000. The win­ner takes home about $22,000 in prizes, the run­ner-up $8000 and the third place- get­ter $3000 in prizes. Five merit awards are worth an­other $10,000.

A to­tal of $13,000 is on of­fer in the Dairy Trainee of the Year cat­e­gory. The win­ner $7000, the run­ner-up $3000 and the third place- get­ter $2000. A na­tional merit award worth $1000 will be pre­sented to a trainee.
