Third for teens at show

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

A team of six Matamata teenagers and two Starfish staff entered the Top Town competition in Morrinsville last Saturday.

They competed in six game show style events with eleven other teams from across Matamata and Piako.

Team member Jo McNaughton said they entered for a bit of fun and were thrilled to take out third place in the social division.

Top Town was part of a district wide initiative to provide more activities for youth.

Starfish hosted the first event, a masquerade ball, in Matamata last December.

Te Aroha is organising the next event, the Yes Factor, which will take place on April 6 at the Te Aroha Domain.

Auditions for Matamata will be held at Starfish on Saturday, March 23, from 9am till midday.

The finalists from Matamata will go on to compete in Te Aroha for the final Yes Factor event with a prize pool of $1200. The competition is open to music, dance and variety acts. Organisers encourage young people to enter.
