Grateful to all involved with flower festival

Matamata Chronicle - - Opinion/news -

On behalf of the participants and committee of the Matamata Festival of Flowers, I would like to extend my sincere thanks for the wonderful support from the people of Matamata and surrounding areas for our recent event at the Memorial Centre.

To the business community, the Public Relations Association and the Matamata-Piako District Council, our grateful thanks for your ongoing support and encouragement to provide an event worthy of the huge number of visitors who came to town to enjoy our form of art in conjunction with the events on the street and at Firth Tower.

Thanks also to the Lions club for providing an easy flow with buses, the Matamata Christian School, for providing outstanding catering, and the Centennial Drive committee members who were able to escort a large number of people through this beautiful asset of our town.

The attendance reached our expectations, the ‘‘wow’’ factor was present in the floral work and the patience and co-operation of the town folk was amazing.

Thank you. by briefly stopping the traffic and allowing our visitors to take their treasured memories of the Hobbiton Gatehouse in safety.

We’d call these people Hobbiton Photography Ambassadors and turn the problem into a unique tourist attraction.

I’d be the first to apply for the job should this suggestion be taken up but at nearly 2m tall I’d have to lie about my height.

There must be somebody out there of a lesser stature than this Hobbit.
