Busy start to year for Hinuera pupils
It has been a positive start to the year for Hinuera School. The year 5 and 6 students have enjoyed a challenging and exciting week on camp at Aongatete Lodge and came home with many stories of their learning and laughter over that period.
Swimming season was a great success with the new hot water heat pump keeping the pool at a cosy 28 degrees Celsius right into April. This made preparing for swimming sports and the school triathlon very pleasant for all.
A visit by the Balloons Over Waikato team in April was a wonderful event near the end of the term.
The school is looking forward to another great term of learning, with many exciting things planned.
That includes Cotter Cup Day, which is hosted by the Hinuera Rugby and Sports Club, and has always being a great event to be involved in. That event will take place on Wednesday, June 5. ‘‘There’s never a dull moment around schools these days’’ said Hinuera principal Dean McDonnell.
‘‘So this term will be full of learning and excitement for sure.’’
This all fits in well with the school motto of Learning and Growing – something that ‘‘Hinni Kids’’ and teachers are encouraged to do each day.
