One of Marion Cooper’s favourite hobbies is sewing.

It was something that she and her mother used to do together and throughout the years Marion has created detailed works of fabric art, including her own wedding dress.

‘‘I’m not the kind of person who likes to just sit and watch television. I have to be doing something,’’ she said.

As a new member of the Matamata P’s & Q’s, Marion is looking forward to her exhibiting debut at the group’s biennial exhibition – The Matamata P’s & Q’s present: The Language of Flowers: The Biennial Exhibition of Quilts, Fabric Art and much more.

The exhibition will take place on Friday, May 24 and Saturday, May 25 at the Memorial Centre with the doors opening at 9.30am.

Entry is $5 with children under 12 free.

With more than 40 members in the P’s & Q’s there will be no shortage of beauty on display.

A quilt Marion plans on exhibiting is one she made for one of her granddaughters.

Marion said it was really worth going along to have a look.

‘‘ It’s going event.’’
