Students show their fitness
Staying fit: Cheeky rain showed up just as Matamata College students set off on their annual cross-country run on Thursday.
Head of physical education Wendy Davidson said this year the run was promoting being smokefree and keeping fit and active.
‘‘The idea is that we are a smokefree school and we encourage students to make their own decisions around their health and wellbeing,’’ she said.
Students had been training for the Smokefree Run for Health in phys-ed class for the past few months. Top runners from each age group will go on to compete at the Thames Valley athletics competition.
Nicola Stewart was at the start line.
