New improved recycling service for residents

Matamata Chronicle - - Front Page -

Matamata- Piako residents will have more opportunities to recycle when a wheelie bin is introduced to the kerbside collection service from October 14.

If you currently receive the kerbside collection service, you will soon have rubbish bags, a green crate and a new wheelie bin.

Group manager service delivery, Fiona Vessey said there are a few changes that residents need to be aware of to ensure a smooth transition in October.

‘‘People need to know that their rubbish bags will still be collected weekly. All recycling will be collected fortnightly.

The green crates will be for glass only and the new wheelie bin will be for all other main recyclables, this includes plastics (1-7), tins, cans, paper and cardboard.’’

The new wheelie bins are being delivered over the next few months and include an information handbook inside.

‘‘The handbook should tell you everything you need to know, including how to know what day and fortnight you will have all of your rubbish and recycling collected.’’
