Chance to honour loved ones
Daffodil Day co-ordinator and Balloons of Remembrance organiser Rexine Hawes is delighted with the support she has received during Daffodil Day and Balloons of Remembrance preparations.
Both events are in Matamata on Friday, August 30. Rexine said there will still be a Daffodil Day collection in Matamata, and it is especially significant this year as it marks 50 years since its inception by the Cancer Society.
Balloons of Remembrance is an added event that will give residents the chance to gather at Railside by the Green and reflect while honouring loved ones who have lost the battle or are still fighting cancer.
As well as balloons and sausages for sale, there will be entertainment, a balloon releasing ceremony, a silent auction and a raffle.
Items up for grabs include a patchwork blankets donated by Beverly Petersen and Caroline Brokenshire, a voucher for a special occasion cake designed and made by Jenna Crighton, and much more.
