Fif­teen tick­ets were is­sued for traf­fic in­fringe­ments in the past week. Po­lice traf­fic stops and check­points around Mata­mata will be on­go­ing.

Wed­nes­day, Au­gust 14:

Po­lice at­tended an ac­ci­dent on Tau­ranga Rd shortly af­ter 7am. It ap­pears a driver lost con­trol around a cor­ner, spun out, went through the bar­rier of a bridge, and took out a farm fence at the David­son Rd in­ter­sec­tion. The 18-year-old driver was not hurt.

A 17-year-old girl was ar­rested for as­sault fol­low­ing a neigh­bour­hood dis­pute.

Satur­day, Au­gust 17

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the bur­glary of a hos­tel at one of the lo­cal sta­bles. A Samsung Galaxy smart­phone was taken.

Sun­day, Au­gust 18

Po­lice at­tended a crash on Old Te Aroha Rd af­ter a car col­lided with a trac­tor tow­ing a large feed- out wagon. It ap­pears the trac­tor had started to turn into a farm en­trance­way, caus­ing the wagon to swing out into the road. The driver fol­low­ing was un­able to see the trac­tor’s in­di­ca­tor and had started to over­take. It crashed into the wagon. Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
