Traffic stops continue
Fifteen tickets were issued for traffic infringements in the past week. Police traffic stops and checkpoints around Matamata will be ongoing.
Wednesday, August 14:
Police attended an accident on Tauranga Rd shortly after 7am. It appears a driver lost control around a corner, spun out, went through the barrier of a bridge, and took out a farm fence at the Davidson Rd intersection. The 18-year-old driver was not hurt.
A 17-year-old girl was arrested for assault following a neighbourhood dispute.
Saturday, August 17
Police are investigating the burglary of a hostel at one of the local stables. A Samsung Galaxy smartphone was taken.
A 14-year-old girl was caught by security at The Warehouse after she swapped her shoes with a brand new pair and attempted to walk out of
Sunday, August 18
Police attended a crash on Old Te Aroha Rd after a car collided with a tractor towing a large feed- out wagon. It appears the tractor had started to turn into a farm entranceway, causing the wagon to swing out into the road. The driver following was unable to see the tractor’s indicator and had started to overtake. It crashed into the wagon. Police are investigating.
