Rugby cap­tain im­pres­sive

Year 13 stu­dent We­ston Kra­nen­burg has re­ally stepped up this year and has been an out­stand­ing cap­tain of the Mata­mata Col­lege COMAG 1st XV.

We­ston, who plays hooker, leads from the front and un­der his lead­er­ship the 1st XV has en­joyed a very suc­cess­ful sea­son, fin­ish­ing 4th in the Waikato Sec­ondary Schools Di­vi­sion 1 com­pe­ti­tion and on a per­sonal note he was cho­sen to trial for Waikato U-18’s.

High­light of the sea­son for We­ston was the one point vic­tory in pool play to the highly fan­cied St John’s Col­lege side, the first time Mata­mata has beaten this team in over a decade.

We­ston is also achiev­ing in the class­room and is next year aim­ing to study to­wards a Bach­e­lor in Man­age­ment Stud­ies at Waikato Univer­sity with a ca­reer in Agribusi­ness beck­on­ing.
