Gatehouse advances to next phase

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

Stage 2 has started!

The Matamata Public Relations Association (PRA) committee has done a lot of planning and talking about our Gatehouse extension and the project is finally underway.

Darren Roa and his boys, Chris, James and Rob turned up on Monday August 26 as planned and things are moving quickly.

Due to Traffic Management Plan (TMP) requirements we have had to take up a couple of car parks in the Hetana St car park to give the boys space to work.

A slight change to the exit, which is stipulated on the TMP is to ensure we don’t cause any problems for those of you using the car park.

It appears to be working well.

Our Contributions Book has arrived. The book has been made by an artisan bookmaker and it’s beautiful.

Everyone who contributes to the Gatehouse will have their name entered into the book which will be an important part of the PRA’s history.

Donations are starting to come in and we are grateful for each contribution.

I would love to hear from someone who is a calligra- pher who can provide their expertise to write up the book.

We believe the Gatehouse is an asset for our community and while we are working so hard to make this project work, some miserable person came by on Friday night and broke three Gatehouse windows.

Makes you wonder why someone would do that. Never fear, we have a cam- era aimed at the building, and when we find them, they will pay!
