Wide va­ri­ety at pet day

It wasn’t the best day for it, but the chil­dren at Rawhiti Kinder­garten were too busy to no­tice the rain at their pet day last Wed­nes­day. Pets of all shapes and sizes, in­clud­ing a lamb, a kid goat, a dog, and some chicks, had the full at­ten­tion of the young­sters. The pet day marks the start of spring each year and chil­dren are in­vited to wear hats cov­ered in flow­ers to cel­e­brate.

Cute and cud­dly: Three­year-old Niah Wehi-White and Shayla Cos­sill, 4, brought along their pets Billy and Hokey Pokey.

Good boy: Jack the dog had the full at­ten­tion of Rounui Smale, 4, Cameron Aitchi­son, 3, and Emily Price and Kaya Richards, both 4.
