New owners set to take over Metso property
Metso will sell its Matamata property to Reid & Harrison (1980) Ltd.
The industrial 1.6 hectare property with multiple buildings will change ownership on February 14, 2014.
Metso New Zealand administrative managing director Keith Cooke said it was important to Metso, with the closure of Metso’s Matamata operations, that the impact on the local community be managed.
‘‘With this property sale we are excited to see a local firm and family further invest in Matamata’s future,’’ Mr Cooke said. ‘‘It is good to know the property is going to continue to be well used.’’
The sale is effectively a ‘walk out, walk in’ sale with most equipment as well as the property changing ownership.
Speaking on behalf of the new owners, director Seaton Dalley said it was a really exciting time for them.
‘‘While we are sad to see such an established company leave Matamata, it has created a massive opportunity for us at Reid and Harrison.
‘‘With the addition of the new equipment and extra room we will be able to increase our product line and manufacture bigger products than before,’’ he said.
‘‘Part of our long-term goal is to incorporate retail sales so we effectively become a ‘one stop shop’. We are really look- ing forward to the future growth of the business and the prospect of expanding our team.’’
Also joining Reid and Harrison ( 1980) Ltd at the new property is Ralph and the team from Reid and Harrison Engineering.
They will take over the precision building which will see them triple in size in floor space and machinery, creating faster output and enabling them to take on larger jobs.
