Local body elections...How do we get our towns back?

Why should our Matamata councillors have to gain approval from neighbouring districts namely Te Aroha and Morrinsville for example parks and reserves, sports facilities and many other things. And like wise why should they of us? Do we need a regional council and a separate district council when many of their responsibilities overlap?

What are the chances of amalgamation? What has to be done to achieve this?

If this change was possible and appropriate boundaries agreed to, we would have two rateable entities and ownership of our towns and the advantages that would flow from that.
