Book sale aids historical society

Matamata Chronicle - - News/opinion -

On behalf of the Matamata Historical Society, I wish to thank everyone who worked so hard to make our book fair such a great success again this year.

Just over $8000 so far has been raised from the sale of books etc so generously donated by people in the Matamata district.

Funds raised will be used to pay for the photos, text panels and audio visuals to tell the story of Dairying in the Matamata District in the new cowshed and attached barn at the Firth Tower Museum.

We are very grateful to all the people who assisted us in so many ways to organise this project.

Members worked hard over many months to sort the books and magazines into categories.

They transported them to the venue and set up all the boxes on the tables and trestles which they had taken there.

A team of members and friends sold the books, kept the tables tidy and cleared up when it was over. We want to thank everyone who supported this fundraising project again this year.
