Hin­uera Hall’s com­mu­nity role hon­oured

This year the Mata­mata His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety will hold its an­nual ‘‘ Cel­e­brat­ing Coun­try Halls’’ meet­ing at Hin­uera Hall on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 22 at 1.30pm.

Hin­uera Hall is now 98 years old as it was built in 1915 and many meet­ings, dances, con­certs and other ac­tiv­i­ties have been held there over the years.

A pro­gramme is be­ing or­gan­ised which will in­clude a short monthly His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety meet­ing, re­mem­ber­ing that many meet­ings have been held here dur­ing the past 98 years.

There will also be a raf­fle, singing items, com­mu­nity singing, a demon­stra­tion of old time danc­ing and his­tor­i­cal books on sale.

This will be fol­lowed by a de­li­cious af­ter­noon tea. Please bring a plate as was the cus­tom through­out the years.

Past and present res­i­dents are most wel­come to at­tend.
