High qual­ity art dis­played

Hun­dreds milled to the Me­mo­rial Cen­tre at the weekend to check out the Mata­mata So­ci­ety of Arts an­nual ex­hi­bi­tion.

Mem­ber Lois Allen said there was a good turnout at the open­ing on Fri­day, which con­tin­ued through Satur­day and Sun­day.

‘‘I thought it was amaz­ing – there was lots and lots of peo­ple.

‘‘ We have had good feed­back and lots of peo- ple brought chil­dren along which was nice.’’

There was an im­pres­sive num­ber of en­tries from the Waikato and the Bay of Plenty in the Paint­ing of Na­ture com­pe­ti­tion and pres­i­dent Mar­garet Dwyer said the cal­i­bre was ex­tremely high.

The so­ci­ety holds one ma­jor ex­hi­bi­tion a year to show­case the work of its mem­bers.
