On be­half of the Alzheimers Waikato Board and staff I would like to sin­cerely thank the Mata­mata com­mu­nity for the gen­er­ous sup­port we re­ceived dur­ing our an­nual ap­peal.

We are grate­ful to those won­der­ful vol­un­teers who gave up their time to col­lect for us; to Count­down, West­pac Bank, and busi­nesses who agreed to act as ‘‘bucket and bib de­pots’’ and of course to the pub­lic who gave so gen­er­ously.

It is in­spir­ing to see how many peo­ple are pre­pared to sac­ri­fice time and money for the good of oth­ers. Col­lect­ing is of­ten tough, es­pe­cially in in­clement weather, and some­times re­buffs are harsh.

But as usual we have been in­un­dated with heart-warm­ing sto­ries from many of our col­lec­tors – lit­tle chubby fin­gers squeez­ing coins through the gaps (what a won­der­ful life les­son par­ents are teach­ing
