Free milk in 1000 schools
More than 1000 schools around New Zealand are now enjoying the taste of dairy every school day thanks to Fonterra’s Milk for Schools.
Fonterra chief executive Theo Spierings said during the past five months there has been significant community support for the national rollout.
‘‘Milk is one of the most nutritious foods there is and we want to do what we can to make sure Kiwi kids grow up drinking it every day,’’ said Mr Spierings.
‘‘By the end of the rollout we will be delivering milk to more than 1300 schools.’’
It was thanks to the support of farmers, schools and communities, he said.
