New lighting for firefighters
Matamata Kiwanis members were special guests at the Matamata fire station recently.
As well being given a tour of the station, they also witnessed a demonstration of the new portable battery powered lights they funded for the Matamata Volunteer Fire Brigade.
The lights the brigade were using were powered by a generator.
When attending incidents, in particular motor vehicle crashes, firefighters often had the dilemma of having to yell at each other over the noise the generator produced.
Matamata Volunteer Fire Brigade Chief Fire Officer Kevin Curtis thanked Kiwanis members for their generous donation.
All funds raised by Matamata Kiwanis is pumped back into the local community.
