Second time’s the charm for Maisie
Hand-picked calves winners
Walton School pupil Maisie Morrissey has taken out Grand Champion Calf at Matamata Group Day for the second year running.
At 10 years old, she is just the third person since 1956 to win the cup two consecutive years.
‘‘ I’m pretty happy ... really happy,’’ said Maisie.
Maisie and her Jerseycross calf Polly also won Champion Rearing at Group Day and Champion Leading and Champion Calf at the Walton School Calf Club Day.
On Friday, they travelled to Hamilton for the Waikato A&P Show and Maisie won first for leading, second for rearing and third for dairy type in the senior lightbreed early-born section.
All up, the pair has won 16 ribbons and four cups.
Ribbons galore: Ten-year-old Maisie Morrissey and her Jersey-cross Champion calf Polly.
