Fon­terra can­di­dates on tour

Mata­mata farm­ers have a chance to meet can­di­dates for Fon­terra board elec­tions.

Can­di­date road­show meet­ings are com­ing to Mata­mata and Te Awa­mutu tomorrow.

Eric Ray from Mor­rinsville and Michael Spaans, who farms at Manawaru, are among five can­di­dates for three farmer va­can­cies.

Can­di­date pro­files and vot­ing pa­pers are due out to Fon­terra share­hold­ers this week and dis­played on Fen­ce­post via fon­terra.com.

Elec­tions for the com­pany’s share­hold­ers’ coun­cil are run­ning at the same time. In­cum­bent Mor­rinsville Ward rep­re­sen­ta­tive Mal­colm Pig­gott is un­chal­lenged, while sit­ting Te Aroha rep­re­sen­ta­tive Gra­ham Hal­lett is not up for elec­tion so con­tin­ues in the role.

Share­hold­ers can vote by in­ter­net, fax or post, us­ing the sin­gle trans­fer­able vote (STV) sys­tem.

The vot­ing pe­riod runs un­til Novem­ber 25, with re­sults an­nounced later that day.
