Challenge taken up by golfers
Chipping in: Challenge! Matamata has donated $1000 to the Matamata Girl Guides from funds raised at this year’s Challenge Golf Series. The ‘‘Challenge Challenge’’ was a nine-hole ambrose tournament run over six weeks at Walton Golf Club. Each week, a hamper donated by New World Matamata was raffled off, with the final winner to choose where the proceeds ended up. Femke Johnson was the lucky winner and decided the Girl Guides deserved some support. Guide leader Aimee Harland said the money was a huge help and would likely go towards new camping equipment. Pictured holding the cheque are Rosalie Walford, 10, Lauren Forbes, 12, and Madelynn Gill, 11.
