People’s voice ignored

Matamata Chronicle - - Opinion/news -

There has been a lot of discussion on the sale of legal highs, but after the fiasco laughingly called consultation by our Matamata-Piako District Council it is obvious that the council has wasted everyone’s time.

People were asked to make submissions on the council proposals for where legal highs can be sold.

A lot of people spent a lot of time and effort to submit their ideas and to travel to Te Aroha to make submissions to a meeting. All a waste of time. The council has completely ignored every submission and suggestion, even our local police sergeant disagreed.

They have finalised their original ideas regardless of public opinion.

All they have done is waste ratepayers’ money by advertising and calling for submissions and then basically showing contempt for all the people that made submissions.

Is it any wonder people are giving up being interested in politics when it is obvious that politicians have no interest in the opinions of the people who put them there.
