Rates rise less than forecast

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

Waikato Regional Council adopted its 2014-15 Annual Plan last Thursday and confirmed an average 0.9 per cent rates increase to existing ratepayers.

Most

ratepayers

will pay less than $5 extra a year for activities and services focused on the region’s environment and economy.

The rates contribution of 0.9 per cent is down from the 3.6 per cent projected in the 2012- 22 Long Term Plan (LTP) as a result of a focused effort to contain costs and improve the council’s efficiency and effectiveness.

The approved plan represents the third year of the LTP adopted by the council in June 2012 and will be delivered on a rates revenue of $78.734 million.
